Urban Life

Tour our DC Apartment.

Pinch me.  We get to live in Washington DC! The apartment is located across the street from a metro stop and Rock Creek Park. While it feels urban, it also feels close to nature.  We can hop on the bike trail and arrive at the Lincoln Memorial in 15 minutes!

Our apartment is directly under this roof-top deck, where we love to have dinner on a Friday night. Our balcony runs the length of the apartment.

The windows are huge and overlook Rock Creek Park, the Capitol, and the Washington Monument.

= Foyer =

Come on in!  There is a long hallway in the foyer that is perfect for a photo gallery.  It feels like home when photos go on the walls.

We love the 9 foot ceilings and open floor plan.  The walls have curves and bump outs, which can make decorating tricky.  To help mask this bump out and balance the wall of windows, I hung these vinyl trees from Etsy.com.

We love eating dinner surrounded by this view.  And the open floor plan makes this 1,200 sq ft feel much larger.

It accommodates competitive ping-pong games too!

This room was large enough to carve out a corner for the Husband’s computer desk.

It’s small, but gets the job done.  A colorful shower curtain and luxurious towels add some needed texture.

The 3 kids share.  Each has a loft bed to personalize.  A shag rug with floor pillows creates a perfect play zone.  Their room was featured here on Apartment Therapy.

Washi tape and patterned towels help add personality and color.

= Kitchen =

Coil burners, no room for a microwave, and white entry-level appliances!  I cook 6 nights a week without having to move much in this compact galley kitchen.

I’ve added hardware, a black backsplash, and my friend’s handwriting to inspire me.

This room extends my kitchen and makes the space work for parties and everyday life.

= Balcony =

This may be the Husband’s favorite spot to read, smoke cigars, and enjoy the view onto his urban dream.

This view will make it hard for us to ever leave….

Located in the basement and $4 a load.  But in one hour, 4 loads are checked off my list!
